Occupation will be screening on Sunday, 2/24/2008 at 3:35 PM as part of Unmasked, a video marathon curated by Elise Youn and Carlos Motta. It is a two-day event, with screenings also taking place all afternoon on Saturday, 2/23. Other artists include Dario Azzellini & Oliver Ressler, François Bucher, Paul Chan, Ashly Hunt, Lin + Lam, and Jenny Perlin. Informal discussions end both days. I’ll be participating in the one at the end of Sunday (5:10 pm).

I’m in LA this week for a group show at Sandroni Rey gallery. Occupation will be screening as a gallery projection here through May 19. Also in the exhibition are Rainer Ganahl, Mario Garcia Torres, and Hugo Hopping. It’s been organized by Nu Nguyen and Mario Garcia Torres.
(PS. Just before leaving, this groovy Reyner Banham video on LA started floating around the intertubes. I’ll be humming the theme song my whole time here.)

Tomorrow night Occupation (video still above) will open at Maison Rouge in Paris. The show is on from March 30 through April 22. Directions.

I’ll be in Paris next week for two screenings of Occupation in the Parisian ‘burbs. The first is in Les Lilas, at Espace Khiasma, on October 11 at 9 PM. Check Espace Khiasma’s Web site for more info and directions.
The second screening will be at Cinéma Le Studio 2 in Aubervilliers on Friday, October 13, 8:30 PM, where we shot one key scene in the project. Eli Lotar’s Aubervilliers will also be screened at Studio 2. A talk with Jack Ralite, Aubervilliers’ longtime mayor, is scheduled to follow.
